𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝗻 “𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱” 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁! 🌎💛

A few of us stayed late after Tuesday’s Relational Intelligence Masterclass workshop with Dr. François Le Doze for some extra Q&A, and discovered that 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱!

Five people across three countries - Canada, France, and Switzerland - all connected to the same person in completely different ways, somehow ending up together in the same little Zoom room.

𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 we 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘃𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹. 😊

One theme kept showing up again and again in participant feedback from last week’s workshop with Shayla S. Dube and Adele Lafrance on Cultural Self-Awareness & Relational Humility:

✨ Warmth ✨

Participants described the workshop as:

• “warm, knowledgeable and very engaging”
• filled with “insight, warmth and depth”
• a space for reflection, openness, and curiosity

I think this matters deeply, especially for conversations around culture, identity, and self-awareness.

When people feel safe rather than shamed, they become more open to reflection, learning, curiosity, and growth.

A huge thank-you to Adele and Shayla for creating such a thoughtful and grounded learning space.

Part 2 of the series, Cultural Competence in Practice, is coming up on May 28th and will focus on practical applications in clinical work. While the workshops are designed to complement one another, each session can also be attended as a standalone training.

Dr. Adele Lafrance, co-developer of Emotion-Focused Family Therapy, and Shayla Dube, a leading expert on issues of race, racialization, and culturally responsive healing, are teaming up together for this unique workshop series.

Workshop 1 focuses on cultivating awareness of our own intercultural and intersectional identities, values, and social locations, and how these shape how we show up in clinical and community based relationships.

Workshop 2 builds on this foundation by translating cultural awareness into concrete, culturally responsive action. Drawing on the Cultural Competence Continuum, this session offers a clear and practical framework for applying cultural competence at both individual and systems levels.
