Join me for a fun, family-friendly Owl Prowl and discover the sights and sounds of nature after dark. Together we will quietly prowl woodlot trails while listening carefully for the distinctive call of the Eastern Screech Owl. As your eyes adjust to the darkness, you’ll discover a whole new world of nighttime activity and hopefully see these nocturnal birds of prey hidden among the trees.
Learn about owls, their fascinating adaptations, and what makes them incredible night time hunters.

Saturday, October 3 from 3-4pm at Sawyer Preservation Woodlot

Join me for a fun, family-friendly walk to discover the sights and sounds of the woodlot in autumn. Explore the changing forest as we look closely at the trees, listen for birds, search for fascinating bugs and uncover the hidden world of mushrooms.
Along the way, learn how to identify common trees and discover why trees—and all the plants and creatures that depend on them—are so important to a healthy forest. Come ready to explore, ask questions, and enjoy the beauty of the woodlot as it comes alive with the colours, sounds and surprises of fall!

Reasons why I love dragonflies. I wish more would come to my backyard for a bite to eat!🦟

Dragonflies are more than just beautiful—they’re powerful indicators of a healthy ecosystem.
Spending most of their lives underwater as larvae, dragonflies rely on clean, unpolluted wetlands and waterways to survive. When you see one, it’s a sign that the environment around you is thriving.
These incredible insects are also natural pest controllers, helping to keep mosquito populations in check.
Protecting habitats like wetlands, rivers, and ponds means protecting species like dragonflies—and all the life that depends on them.
