Thank you so much to visiting instructor, Noelle Gunsay, for the engaging and informative weekend workshops over the past two weekends.

The Cast Drawing Workshop took place on September 5-6 followed by the Clay Cast Sculpting Workshop on September 12-13.

Students who took Cast Drawing learned how to analyze and accurately draw cast forms and render light and shadow to achieve a lifelike sense of form. In the Clay Cast Sculpting Workshop, students worked from facial feature casts of Michelangelo’s David statue to understand anatomy and learn how to translate their observations of form and structure into clay using classical sculpting techniques.

Everyone who participated did an amazing job and worked incredibly hard! Well done!

Limited spots left! Register now for the upcoming September weekend workshops: Cast Drawing & Clay Cast Sculpting (Sept 5-6 & 12-13) for an in-depth introduction to classical drawing and sculpting techniques. Visiting instructor, Noelle Gunsay, will guide both workshops taking place at Katarina’s Art Studio in Stratford, PE. Noelle is an established artist and a graduate of Grand Central Atelier in New York City and will bring her depth of artistic knowledge to PEI.

The workshops are open to all levels of experience (beginners to advanced) as guidance is personalized during the workshop. Minimum age 15 to join.

I am so happy to share that I have officially graduated from The Florence Academy of Art with a Masters in Studio Art! 🎓

I have learned so much this summer and in the past three years of this program. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of my instructors at FAA for their wealth of knowledge, patience and exceptional teaching. I had a wonderful opportunity to study and create with fellow international artists from around the world and make good friends. Undertaking this was a big challenge, but very worthwhile.

I am incredibly grateful for the support of my family, friends, and also my art students who encouraged me on this journey of study.

I am excited to bring back everything I’ve learned at FAA to Prince Edward Island and continue to share it through my art and teaching. I am so looking forward to meeting all of my students again (and new students!!) in the fall when classes start back up again for the year.

I’m sharing some photos I’ve taken in Florence, Italy, including photos of my final still life painting project.

Term 3 of lessons is officially over! All my students have done wonderfully this Term and completed many beautiful artworks. Here are just a few artworks to share from the kids groups (ages 10-11)! They did a fantastic job.👏

I will see everyone again in September! (I am headed to Italy to complete my master's degree at the Florence Academy of Art and hope to bring back lots of new knowledge to my lessons this upcoming academic year 2026-2027.

Join classically trained artist and visiting instructor Noelle Gunsay for a unique hands-on workshop exploring the beauty of form, light, and shadow through cast drawing and clay sculpting. Noelle studied at Grand Central Atelier in New York City and has taught workshops, aided muralists, and has mentored at the college level. Noelle has received over twenty awards recognizing her artistic abilities, displayed her work in over twenty different exhibitions, and has been included in three different publications highlighting her work. She brings a wealth of experience teaching and mentoring artists of all levels.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲—𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀.
Through demonstrations, individualized guidance, and constructive critiques, students will learn classical drawing techniques for rendering light and shadow, understanding form, and sculpting with oil-based clay.

Thank you to all students, parents, their family and friends who attended the student art exhibition reception last week Wednesday at The Arts Guild. It was an amazing turnout of over 200 people who came to support the artists and view the wide array of beautiful artworks from all ages.

The exhibition ran until this past Saturday and I want to thank everyone who spent their time to view the artworks on the public days of the exhibition. I am grateful to be able to share my time with everyone and it is truly a privilege to be a part of my students art journey in their life. I am aware that the only reason I can do this is because of the adult students and parents supporting these classes. Thank you so much to everyone.

I look forward to another month of classes in Term 3 (May-June) before the big summer break. After which I will depart to Italy to complete my master’s degree for the summer.

Art Lessons will resume mid-September for the academic year (Sept 2026-June 2027). In a few week’s time, I will post updated information regarding registration/fees/calendar/ etc. for Term 1 of the next academic year (Sept-December 2026).

Public viewing for the annual Student Art Exhibition begins this Wednesday, May 20th and runs through Saturday, May 23rd at The Arts Guild, with the gallery hours from 12:00-5:00 pm.

This four-day public exhibition will showcase a beautiful collection of realistic artworks created by the students of Katarina McCourt. All are welcome, and admission is free.
