Perth Huron Regional School of Nursing 1972 class - 50th Reunion

Photos from PHRSN Class Reunion 2022's post 05/05/2022

So as a suggestion to others, I would love everyone to send a little description of what they have been up to over the last 50 years.
I will start:

As you may know I only worked for about 3 years as a nurse at York Finch Hospital in paediatrics and medical/surgery wards in Toronto and in a nursing home in Tavistock.

After that my husband I moved to BC for a working holiday at Emerald Lake Lodge in Yoho National Park. It was an amazing start to our life in the Canadian Rockies, skiing, hiking , and climbing became our recreation and later my husbands life.

Living in the small community of Field (300 people), in Yoho National Park for 19 years was exciting every day as I could walk out my door and look up at the 10,000 ft Mt Stephen peak and surrounding beauty. See lots of wildlife from Elk to Grizzly bears right in our town.

My husband worked for Avalanche control in Rogers Pass in winters and learnt to climb in summers becoming a International Certified Mounatin Guide. I learnt to ski in winters and my journey took me through many Parks Canada jobs from working in a campground to an information centre and then eventually in to marketing and education in a Communications job.

After playing for 8 years in the mountains and travelling the world, we decided to have children and had Luke, Genevieve and Rachel. They grew up as free spirits in the wee hamlet of Field until we moved to Invermere. There dad worked there in winter as. Heli ski guide and well, it had a lake with beaches and warmer temps so I could garden.

We have been here in Invermere for 29 years and have loved it. Still small and friendly our new home brought us new friends and new perspectives.
We could add kayaking and swimming to our list of other activities.
For a while alll three of my children as adults lived here. Now my two girls are still here and my son has moved to Revelstoke.

We are still very active and now have 7 grandkids: Kyla 14, Kali 11, Lily 10, Violet 6, Cedar 6, Conrad 4, Lachlan 2.

We see five of them weekly and the other two come every couple months. We are happy to have them so much in our lives!!!!

We have been very lucky and have travelled so many wonderful places around the world. Before grandkids, our whole family joined my husband climbing the 19,000 ft Kilimonjaro in Tanzania Africa, While he was on his quest to climb the highest peaks on 7 continents.

I have joined him on other trips to India, Africa, South America, Fiji, New Zealand Europe… We are truly blessed!!!

I spend my time volunteering at a local community greenhouse and garden, looking after many gardens, grandkids, skiing, skating, hiking and swimming.

Here are a few pictures spanning our time in the west. Looking forward to seeing you and hearing some of your stories!!!
