Stratford Chefs School Between October and March each year, Stratford’s most cherished culinary secret is the School’s Dinner Series. Dinner is served Tuesday to Saturday.

Stratford Chefs School is a not-for-profit Culinary School in Stratford Ontario, Canada that offers innovative, hands-on training of Cook Apprentices who aspire to become the next generation of culinary leaders and hospitality entrepreneurs. Nestled in the heart of Stratford, Ontario, the Stratford Chefs School is a not-for-profit career college focused on the innovative, hands-on training of high quality, aspiring chefs and culinary entrepreneurs. Since 1983 the School has helped to set the standard for excellence in culinary training in Canada, and produced graduates who contribute to the development of a distinctive Canadian cuisine. Students rotate through kitchen positions to produce new menus daily in an upscale restaurant featuring local seasonal ingredients. Under the guidance of the School's faculty of acclaimed local chefs and guest chefs from Canada and around the world, our students produce dishes worthy of the world’s best restaurants. The new School year is about to begin, and we are thrilled to make some Faculty announcements.

Joshna Maharaj has joined the School faculty as the Level 1 Writing Instructor. Joshna visited the School last year as the Gastronomic Writer-in-Residence and we are pleased to have her return in this role. Joshna is an author and an award-winning, two-time TEDx speaker who believes strongly in the power of chefs and social gastronomy to bring values of hospitality, sustainability and social justice to the table.

Conor Scully has assumed the Level 1 and 2 Communications Instructor position. Conor has been a Front of House Lab Instructor for a number of years, and is a seasoned industry professional and social media expert. His background is in theatre performance, and he was granted a Masters of Arts from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Chefs School News! We're thrilled to announce that journalist Ivy Knight will be our 2026 Joseph H***e Gastronomic Writer-in-Residence (JHGWIR).⁠

A line cook before becoming a food writer and filmmaker, Ivy Knight is a French Canadian who was born on the west coast, grew up on the east coast, and currently lives in Toronto. Knight spent a decade cooking professionally before leaving restaurant kitchens to write full time. Her first big interview was French chef, author, and culinary educator Jacques Pepin, her second was Calvin Trillin, an American journalist, humorist, and food writer. ⁠These two giants provided the best learning curve for breaking into the business. ⁠

Knight's byline can be found in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Food & W**e, and more. She has written two cookbooks for HarperCollins and her short film series OPEN (created with JR Reid and James Chatto) is produced in partnership with the Emmy and James Beard Award-winning Roads & Kingdoms.⁠

During her two-week residence in Stratford this fall, Knight will lead workshops about food writing, provide one-on-one consultations with students who are interested in food writing, and present readings and discussions of her work to both students and the public, with the overall goal of contributing to a well-rounded education for students, a primary objective of the School.⁠

Just announced! Our popular public W**e Classes with Sommelier and Stratford Chefs School W**e and Service Instructor Alexandra Evans return this fall and are now available to book!

Two different four class series are on offer; the four class W**e 101 Series will start October 19/26 and again January 11/27. The four class Old World W**e Series starts November 16/26.
