October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, show support, and honour those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.

Today, the staff at Avon Co-op Nursery School wore pink in honour of the family members, friends, colleagues, and loved ones who have been affected by this disease. We hold them in our hearts and stand alongside all those who are currently facing breast cancer, those who have overcome it, and those we remember with love.

Together, we can continue to spread awareness, offer support, and celebrate the strength and resilience of our community. 💗🎀

🧡 ORANGE SHIRT DAY AT ACNS 🧡

A reminder to all our ACNS families that we will be recognizing Orange Shirt Day on Tuesday, September 29 & Wednesday, September 30! Wear your orange shirt to school on these 2 days. 🧡

Truth and Reconciliation Day, observed on September 30, is a time to reflect on the history and ongoing impacts of the residential school system, honour the children who never returned home, and recognize the experiences of Survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities.

Orange Shirt Day began with the story of Phyllis Webstad, who shared how her new orange shirt was taken from her when she arrived at a residential school as a child. Her story helped inspire the message that “Every Child Matters.”

At ACNS, we believe it is important to help our children learn about kindness, inclusion, respect, and the importance of remembering and listening.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of Jessica Klassen, our Board President and mom to Juniper 7, Flora 5, and Constantine 2, on July 1st.

Jessica was a dedicated member of our nursery school community, generously giving her time, leadership, and support to our little school for many years. Whether you knew Jessica personally or not, her contributions have helped shape and strengthen our school community, and she will be deeply missed.

Our hearts are with Adam, her children, and all of Jessica's family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
