Please note this exercise that is happening at Colonel Gray Senior High today.

The school will not be accessible to the public during this exercise.

You can expect to see an ongoing police presence in the area throughout the day.

Annual Training Exercise Taking Place Today

Multiple agencies participating resulting in an increased presence at Colonel Gray

The Charlottetown Police Services is advising residents about a multi-agency training exercise that will be conducted today, Monday, June 29, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Colonel Gray High School (175 Spring Park Road). The exercise will bring a visible and increased presence of officers, civilian staff and partner agencies, along with emergency vehicles, onto school property for the day.

The purpose of the training is to create a real-time incident that activates an integrated emergency response across multiple agencies and various CPS units to help strengthen the coordination, intelligence sharing, real-time decision making and the overall response to high-risk incidents. The exercise will include CPSโ€™ tactical response unit, crisis negotiators, incident commander, and dispatch, along with members from the following partner agencies โ€“ Island EMS, Charlottetown Fire Department, Summerside Police Services and UPEI Faculty of Medicineโ€™s Clinical Learning and Simulation Centre.

Please note that access to the school property will be restricted to those participating in the training exercise, which does not pose any threat to the public.

The exercise reinforces CPSโ€™s commitment to strong partnerships and building capacity in critical incident response and crisis de-escalation.

As we prepare to wrap up another school year, I want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate all those who make up our system.

To our Class of 2026, your years of hard work and growth are truly impressive. We are incredibly proud of you, wish you nothing but the best, and canโ€™t wait to see where your next chapter takes you. To our remaining students, we also want to celebrate your dedication, achievements, and personal growth throughout this academic year.

The most successful school environments are those in which everyone is pulling together. Families, thank you for being there for our students, supporting our schools, and reinforcing their learning at home.

To our amazing staff, volunteers and community members who make our schools the special places they are, we thank you for your dedication and care. You are the heartbeat of our schools and a vital part of shaping positive spaces for our students to thrive.

I wish everyone a safe and restful summer.

Warmly,
Tracy Beaulieu
Director of the Public Schools Branch
