Looking for something to do today?
In our process of cleaning out, we have found a number of photo albums and class photos from years gone by. Check out photos ranging from 1989-2001 from the former Stewiacke Play Preschool at the Community Centre from 1-3pm this afternoon.
Celebrate Stewiacke’s history and birthday by helping us find some familiar faces. We have placed pens and sticky notes with the photos for people to identify faces or memories! It was very cool to look back and see everyone that attended the preschool and we would love to know their names! ☺️

Summer is in full swing and for everyone at WRELC, this year it is bittersweet. The children and their families were excited for summer but sad for what the end of the school year meant for the centre.
It is with extreme sadness that we announce that as of June 30/2023, our Board of Directors has been dissolved and the centre will be closed permanently. Unfortuntely, with both staffing and financial struggles, it is something we just couldn’t beat.
We want to say a huge thank you to all the staff, board members, donors, community members/businesses and our children and their families for all the support over many great years. We couldn’t have made it this far without you and we have thoroughly enjoyed serving the town of Stewiacke.
Please stay tuned for information as we go through the contents of the centre. We will be having a sale that isn’t just for other centres….it’s good for families, grandparents, children, and youth programs. We have lots of cool items that must sell and we look forward to seeing familiar faces when that happens.
Thank you,
Kristyn Miller

So important for young children to learn hands on and get messy! It may not seem like it at the time, but they will benefit greatly from this type of play and we strongly encourage it! 💕
It's okay to get messy! Give kids the chance to explore and experience a variety of senses as they learn about cause and effect, how to problem solve, and more!

We would like to say Happy Father’s Day to all the men who play a special role in the lives of our children at the centre. ☺️ Enjoy your special day!
Whether you’re a father, step father, boyfriend, grandfather, uncle or anything in between! We appreciate all the things you do to help your child grow! They worked very hard this week on projects for that special man in their life and they can’t wait to present them to you today! ❤️

During a little spring clean up, we decided it was time to turn in our full box of old, dried up markers.
This was a project we started a couple years ago on Earth Day in an effort to recycle the markers we use instead of sending them to a landfill. 🌎
Staples offers a program where you return your old markers to the store and they break them all down to turn them into new plastic products. 🖊️
The children enjoyed watching the box fill up everytime they put in another marker. The lesson they received from this Earth Day project may have been small but it all adds up to helping out our planet. We sure went through a lot of pens and markers in two years! 😯
Check out the other items you can recycle too!
