Becoming an Outdoors Family is a great opportunity for families to get outside, learn new skills and experience the outdoors together in a fun, supportive environment.

1st Shot is designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of shooting in a safe, welcoming and hands-on setting — a great fit for those looking to try something new or build their confidence.

The Manitoba Wildlife Federation is excited to welcome families back for the 3rd Annual Becoming an Outdoors Family (BOF) program, taking place September 11–13, 2026, at Circle Square Ranch! 
 
BOF is a fun, hands-on weekend designed to bring families together through outdoor adventure. Whether your family enjoys hunting, fishing, or simply exploring nature, you’ll learn valuable outdoor skills, build confidence, and connect with other families who share your passion for the outdoors. 
 
The weekend will be held at Circle Square Ranch, located approximately 24 km south of Austin, Manitoba. Space is limited, and registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis. We will be hosting our inaugural sporting clays night on July 30th. Registration will be at 5:30pm and the cost is $10 er 25-target round. You'll need to bring your own ammo and shotgun. Max 12ga, #7.5, 1 1/8 oz. We look forward to seeing everyone interested. This is open to members and those holding guest passes (standard guest pass rules apply).
