Gwendy Harrington is both a trumpet player and a pianist based in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Privately, she studied trumpet with teachers in Toronto and Ottawa.
Gwendy Harrington is a trumpet player/pianist/composer/arranger based in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. Gwendy's main goal is to bring people together, so they feel connected. She performs regularly as a member of the Fort McMurray Community Concert Band and the Fort McMurray Community Jazz Band. She also performs solos on occasion for All Saints Anglican Church, Fort McMurray, where she has on o
ccasion performed her own compositions. She has been a member of the pit bands for musical productions at Keyano Theatre in 2014 and 2015. Prior to moving to Fort McMurray, Gwendy was principle trumpet for the Deep River Symphony Orchestra (DRSO) and the Pembroke Symphony Orchestra (PSO) in Ontario. She played in various musical productions in the Ottawa Valley, most notably, "West Side Story" production in Pembroke in 2009. Gwendy was accepted as a piano student at York University, where she studied piano improv, trumpet, and composition. Financial considerations meant that she left the program before completion, moving to the Ottawa Valley to accept an offer of full time employment. Gwendy has an active teaching studio. She started teaching while still in high school. Currently, Gwendy's studio operates exclusively where she works with select students studying trumpet and piano.
