Day 3 — Week 3 🩺💙

And just like that, we’ve reached the final day of MedQuest 2026! 🥼✨

Students spent their last day exploring the connection between chemistry and medicine with Dr. Christina Bottaro before heading into the chemistry lab for hands-on experiments and a fun tie-dye activity! 🧪🎨 Department of Chemistry, Memor

After a pizza lunch, students got a look at how innovation continues to transform healthcare and then put their creativity to work in the 3D printing lab, designing and printing their own initials.

The day continued with a resident career panel featuring physicians from Family Medicine MUN FMIG and Radiology. Students heard about their experiences, pathways into medicine, and what life is like in their specialties. To finish off the program, everyone put their knowledge to the test with one final round of medical trivia! 🧠

As we close out the final day of MedQuest 2026, we’re so grateful for the incredible students, mentors, physicians, researchers, and everyone who helped make these three weeks possible. Thank you to our final group of participants for bringing so much enthusiasm, curiosity, and energy to MedQuest! 💙

Day 2 — Week 3 🩺

Week 3 of MedQuest is in full swing! ✨

Today, students continued their journey through healthcare with sessions exploring family medicine, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, and the importance of interprofessional collaboration in patient care. MUN HKR Student Society

They also got to put their clinical skills into practice, learning how healthcare professionals assess and interact with patients. Later, students headed into the biology lab for another hands-on experience before wrapping up the day with a patient diagnosis challenge that put their problem-solving skills to the test! 🧠🔬 MUN Biology

From hands-on learning to teamwork and clinical skills, it was another busy day of discovering what a future in healthcare can look like!

Two awards, one incredible impact.
Dr. Sevtap Savas, a professor in our Faculty of Medicine, has received both the 2026 CAPO Innovation Award and a 2026 Newfoundland and Labrador Seniors of Distinction Award for her leadership in cancer research, patient partnerships and public engagement.

Since joining Memorial in 2008, Dr. Savas has worked to ensure patient and public voices help shape cancer research, policy discussions and knowledge sharing throughout the province and beyond.

👏 Congratulations, Dr. Savas, on this well-deserved recognition!

What a fantastic way to wrap up another incredible week of MedQuest! 🩺💙

The day began with an engaging presentation by Dr. Christina Bottaro, who explored the role of chemistry in medicine. Students then headed to the chemistry lab, where they took part in hands-on experiments and created their own tie-dye shirts! 🧪🎨

Following a pizza lunch, participants discovered how innovation is shaping the future of healthcare before visiting the 3D printing lab to design and print their own initials.

To close out the week, students heard from an inspiring resident panel featuring physicians in Family Medicine, and Radiology. They shared their journeys into medicine, answered thoughtful questions, and gave students a closer look at life in each specialty. The week ended with an exciting round of medical trivia, putting everyone’s new knowledge to the test!
