The Youth Ambassadors Program with Canada brings together youth (aged 15 to 18 years old) and adult mentors from Canada to promote mutual understanding, increase leadership, and prepare youth to make a difference in their communities. It is an intensive program that takes place from July 16 through August 4, 2018, and is carried out in Ottawa, New York state, and Washington, DC. Participants have all travel, meal, and accommodation costs during the exchange covered by the program, in addition to health benefits with limitations provided in the USA.



The Youth Ambassadors Program with Canada is organized by the Center for the Study of Canada, State University of New York College at Plattsburgh, with support from: the United States Department of State; World Learning, the United States Embassy in Ottawa; and Fulbright Canada.



The program is seeking applicants with Canadian citizenship. Youth applicants must be aged 15 to 18 years old, have at least 4 months remaining of secondary school or CEGEP (NO JUNE 2018 GRADS), and be dedicated to community service. Preference will be given to applicants from under-represented populations, new Canadians, and Canadians from indigenous populations including First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. Candidates with a demonstrated interest in the USA and with little to no experience traveling to the USA are also preferred. Adult mentor applications are welcomed from teachers, trainers, school administrators, and/or community leaders who work with teenaged youth.

Provincial Government Now Accepting Applications for 2018 RISE Awards



The Department of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation is now accepting applications for the 2018 Research Inspired Student Enrichment (RISE) Awards competition. Award recipients are given the opportunity to attend research-related enrichment programs in Canada and the United States.

Level II high school students in the province who demonstrate academic excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and who will be completing Level II by June 2018, are eligible to apply. Awards range in value from $7,800 to $15,000 and will be granted to a maximum of 15 students. Eligible students must have a minimum average of 90 per cent across all Level I courses and have a minimum number of courses in science and mathematics.

In brief, the Marine Communications and Traffic Services is a department with the Canadian Coast Guard. Candidates must apply online at the link provided below. Upon successful completion, the candidate will be posted to one of the twelve (12) MCTS Centres located across the country.

National Student Commonwealth Forum (NSCF).

An opportunity to engage and empower Canadian youth on current issues - the 45th National Student Commonwealth Forum is a week-long youth leadership program for Canadian high school students, the first week of May in Ottawa. Students will discuss Canadian issues in the Senate Chamber, meet Members of Parliament and Commonwealth High Commissioners, and represent a Commonwealth country at a model Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) at Global Affairs Canada. (Past delegates have gone on to represent Canadian youth during the biannual Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings.) Travel cost are covered, and some bursaries are available to cover the affordable (max $310 for out of town) registration fee.

· Online Nursing application: The 2017 online Nursing application is now available. Applicants currently attending high school must fill out two applications: one to Memorial University and one to Nursing. The Nursing application is embedded within the Memorial application, therefore as soon as students select Nursing as their program of study, it will automatically bring them into the Nursing application. · Deadline to Apply: The deadline to apply to Nursing is March 1st at 5 p.m.



· Midterm Grades: Students or school representatives MUST email us a copy of the student’s February report cards/midterm grades. These grades are required for admission into the Bachelor of Nursing (Collaborative) Program. If we do not receive these grades by the March 1st deadline, we cannot proceed with the application.



· Set-Up MUN Email Account: Nursing admission decisions will be emailed to the student’s account and to their personal email account.
