The RMIG Interest Group invites you to our Lunch and Learn on March 17th from 12-1pm for an exciting talk on rural medicine experiences led by Dave Paddon, a local author and storyteller!
Join us as Dave tells the story of his parents and grandparents who were doctors and nurses in Labrador from 1912 to 1978 with very interesting careers. His dad and grandfather travelled for many years by dogteam to provide medical services on the coast of Labrador and were instrumental in bringing TB under control, and his mom worked as a nurse in London during WW2 in hospitals where there were bombings.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about real-life experiences of pioneer and rural medicine in our province and its impact on healthcare today! Lunch will be provided, and please sign up using the link below!

‼️Midwives (soon) catching babies at Carbonear General Hospital‼️

The team at AMNL is sending well wishes to our colleagues on the Carbonear Midwifery Team in the Eastern Rural Zone! With the recent addition of our member, Lindsay, she, Sarah and Jaclyn are now offering full scope pregnancy care (prenatal, labour, delivery and postpartum) and are eagerly anticipating upcoming due dates. They are still welcoming folks into care so, if you or someone you know is expecting and looking for midwifery care feel free to get in touch.

The team is also offering sexual and reproductive health services to the general public which includes IUDs and implants, other hormonal contraception, screening and treatment for sexually transmitted and blood borne infections, cervical cancer screening, breastfeeding support, preconception counselling and more!

Lastly, Sarah, Jaclyn and Lindsay had the opportunity to welcome their first midwifery student in a clinical placement to the practice. All four team members are seen here enjoying a team excursion around town. Alyssa was immersed in rural midwifery practice during her time in Carbonear. We hope to see her back soon!
