If you’re heading out for a hike, you want to make sure you pack foods that are going to provide you with energy but won’t weigh down your backpack. Here are 5 Foods to bring on a hike:

o Trail mix: a mix of nuts, seeds, dried fruit and a few chocolate pieces provides a great balance of protein, fat and quick energy

o Fresh fruit – apples, oranges, and bananas are easy to pack and provide hydration along with essential nutrients

o Granola bars or energy bars

o Jerky: jerky offers a high-protein snack that’s easy to carry and doesn’t require refrigeration

o Whole grain crackers with nut butter: this combination of fat and carbohydrate will provide you with energy to last

o Don’t forget water!
