Last winter I stopped turning bowls and trees etc for a time and took a twelve week course in building a traditional Newfoundland Rodney. The course was given by the Wooden Boat Museum in Winterton. Jerome Canning ran the course and was assisted by Ken Snelgrove. It was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about boat building and its connection to the people of Newfoundland. I have included a few pictures of the boat, which still needs a few planks before it hits the water. There is also a photo of some thole pins that I turned for the boat and will deliver this weekend.
Wishing everyone a very Merry and Happy Holiday! And thank you all for making this year the absolute best I have ever had. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and having a chat. So Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

✨ Featured Vendor:David Press Woodturning ✨
Our next Merry Makers Market vendor is David Press Woodturning, a small craft business creating beautifully turned wooden bowls, rolling pins, and a variety of charming home décor items. The business began in 2016 with its first Craft Council Fair as a partnership called The Two Turners. After Pete Stanbridge moved on, the name evolved into David Press Woodturning, and the creativity has continued to grow ever since.
David produces an ever-expanding collection of handcrafted pieces, including bowls, rolling pins, mushrooms, trees, rug hooks, wine stoppers, pepper mills, and other small turnings. This year he has also introduced turned wooden tree decorations, bringing a festive touch to his work. Most, if not all, of these unique items will be available at the Merry Makers Market.
Visit David Press Woodturning at the Merry Makers Market on December 5 and 6 to explore his wide range of handcrafted wooden creations and find the perfect gift made with care and craftsmanship. ✨🌲
