Last week we said a heartfelt goodbye to our four wonderful Brazilian students who have been part of our school community since February. Over the past few months, they have brought so much energy, kindness, and friendship into our halls, and they quickly became an important part of our school family.
Their presence has truly been a fantastic addition to our community we’ve learned from each other, shared many great moments, and created memories that will last a lifetime.
While we’re sad to see them go, we are so grateful for the time we’ve had together. We wish each of you the very best in your future adventures and a safe journey home. You will always have a place here at St. Bonaventure's College.

We were proud to welcome the Allan Cup to St. Bon’s this afternoon!
First awarded in 1909, the Allan Cup is one of the oldest and most prestigious trophies in Canadian hockey, presented to the senior amateur champions of Canada. It was donated by Sir H. Montagu Allan at a time when the Stanley Cup became professional, giving amateur players their own national championship to compete for.

For over a century, the Cup has travelled across the country, representing community hockey at its best and celebrating players who compete for the love of the game.
A great opportunity for our students to see a true piece of Canadian hockey history up close. 🏒 Thank you to Brian Cusack and Bernard Davis for this great honour!

Today , our students came together in the gymnasium to eat in community with their peers for a special waste-free lunch. This idea is deeply rooted in Ignatian spirituality and inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’. This initiative, led by our Student Council and Social Justice Club, challenged our students to rethink our daily environmental impact and to practice stewardship for our common home.

We began our lunch in prayerful reflection and spent some time listening to our Student Council give tips and facts on caring for the environment through opportunities such as this. We are grateful for an excellent turnout and positive energy as our students shared their mealtime together to reduce single-use plastics and waste by using re-usable water bottles and cutlery.

By sitting down to eat together in fellowship, our students demonstrated what it means to be young people for and with others. We are incredibly proud of their leadership, mindfulness, and commitment to environmental justice. Thank you to our student council as well as parents and guardians for helping prepare for this.

Last week Oladoyin Agbaje (Gr. 7) and Moroti Adegboyega (Gr. 11) travelled to Edmonton, Alberta as members of Team NL at the Canada Wide Science Fair. 393 grade 7 to 12 students showcased 346 projects at the event. Students were selected as the top 2% of 15 000 young Canadians who competed at regional fairs this year.

Oladoyin received a bronze medal in the junior category and Moroti received a bronze medal in the senior category! Moroti was also one of three finalists chosen for the Canadian Stockholm Junior Water Prize. This special award gives three students the opportunity to compete at the national level to potentially represent Canada at the International Competition in Sweden in August 2026.

We are so proud of all their hard work! Let’s send them a congratulations on this amazing success!
