On September 1, 2022, NL introduced Canada’s first SSB tax. To measure its impact, we collected data on beverage consumption and demographics before the tax began to establish a baseline.
We’ve just completed our 1-year post-tax analysis, and the new paper will be available in pre-print and under review before the end of the year. Stay tuned! 📊📅

Starting Sept. 1, Newfoundlanders and Labradorians will pay an extra 20 cents per litre on sugar-sweetened beverages like iced teas and pop.
