📝Preparing to start a new semester in nursing?
Here are 5 tips to prepare yourself for a successful semester:
1️⃣ Evaluate your schedule 🗓️.
Making a calendar of course times, extracurricular involvements, and time for self-care is foundational to having a balanced academic life.
2️⃣ Look for second hand books 📚
Trust me, you most likely will never reference your pharmacology textbook in two years time.
Buying second hand books is a fantastic option to maximize your financial health while paying for your semester.
Occasionally, digital downloads may be available online, often more affordable.
Also, check the library’s availability to borrow your textbook. However, this option may only work for a few weeks at a time, so plan ahead!
3️⃣ Learn from your mistakes 🫠
This one’s hard. Try and remember any common feedback or mistakes you’ve made on exams/assignments. Professors want you to succeed, so take their advice!
For clinical courses, try and remember some skills you struggled with in your last placement. Look them up on Elsevier to get a better understanding of the technique.
4️⃣ Reconnect with classmates ✨
I know how it goes, you move back out the bay and suddenly your old life floods back in. You go weeks without speaking to your classmates until you plan to register for courses together. Send them a message, laugh together, rant.
5️⃣ Remember your why 🥲
Everyone has their superhero origin story of why they want to be a nurse. Remember yours.
Someone, somewhere is better because you cared for them. Either in a clinical placement or in some other capacity, you impact people. That’s why you registered for this semester.
As always, feel free to reach out if you are interested in joining me this semester. I am currently taking new clients for the fall.

❓People often ask me, “what’s the number one reason why someone is unsuccessful in their nursing exams?”
👨🏫I’ve been tutoring for almost 10 years, with a focus on nursing for the last 5. I’ve seen students on the verge of failing out pass with honours. I’ve seen students who score well, but struggle to understand complex concepts.
😬However, the main reason why people struggle isn’t a lack of knowledge, it’s a lack of confidence. They know the answers, they just lack the ability to confidently answer the questions.
👏As a tutor, the hardest part of my job isn’t teaching materials. It isn’t explaining complex physiological processes and how they interact to achieve homeostasis. It’s providing students with the confidence to answer questions.
📝So how do I teach this? These are three fundamentals I share with all my students, either directly or indirectly.
1️⃣ Trust your gut. If an answer looks right, it is often correct. Testing intuition exists, use it!
2️⃣ Don’t overthink. Nursing exams are notorious for tricky responses. Don’t add information that wasn’t given in the prompt!
3️⃣ If you don’t know, move on. Spending more time on active recall questions does not make the answer more accessible. If you don’t know it, move on and save that time for the questions you do know.

🍂FALL SEMESTER INTAKE📚
Early participation in tutoring services improves exam scores and maximizes your chance of success. I am now accepting new clients to join me this semester.
What services do I offer?
👩🏾💻 Primarily, I offer one-on-one virtual tutoring sessions.
💾 These are conducted via Google Meet (a free virtual meeting software with no required downloads).
🗓️ Typically, sessions occur weekly or biweekly. A free consultation session is available for prospective students.
Otherwise, I offer virtual single subject group sessions throughout the semester. Information will be posted when these become available, so make sure to follow my page.
Proofreading of care plans, academic papers, concept maps, and case study assignments is also a service I provide. The flat rate of this service is $5.00/assignment.
How can I contact you? 📲
You can connect with me through Facebook messenger. Although I occasionally use email for client communication, Facebook messenger remains the most reliable form of connecting with me.
Spots are limited, don’t wait to reach out now to secure your place throughout the semester!

Kussmaul breathing presents as deep, regular respirations that are typically faster than normal. Unlike other abnormal breathing patterns, the respirations remain rhythmic and regular, but are noticeably deeper and more forceful than typical breathing. https://bit.ly/4n9lB89
