Today is the National day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.
'Na wa esxwexwkw i7xw ta menmen cht' means Every Child Matters in Sḵwx̱wú7mesh sníchim, the language of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (the Squamish Nation).

Evans Lake sits on the unceded territory of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw. We are enormously grateful for the opportunity to be able to provide education on these lands and we extend our deepest thanks to Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw for their past and continued stewardship of the land and waters that provide such a meaningful space for our community to learn and grow.

Today and every day, we honour residential school Survivors, their families, and those who never returned home. Through learning and educating ourselves on our history, we can recognize the lasting impacts of residential schools.

Reconciliation is an ongoing process and we encourage our community to learn about the history of the land and its peoples and support Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw through the links provided in our LinkTree.
