The first crew of kids in Miss Jane's class from St'a7mes school hiked up siyam smanit (chief mountain) today. We went up to peak one to look for the smoke coming from skunks long house and then we went to where sinulhkays black mark meets the peak.

🎥This week, a film crew from ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen) visited Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) Territory to film a documentary on the Nation as one of the Host First Nations for the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

The film crew spent time at St’a7mes School, meeting students involved in the Canoe Project, attended a Canoe family practice, visited the Sea to Sky Gondola, and took in a Junior B lacrosse practice at Xwmélch’sten – Ḵw’eshḵw’shétsutay̓ (Playing Place). They also had the opportunity to speak with Chairperson Sxwíxwtn Wilson Williams.

The documentary will air on German television this June. Thank you to everyone in Community who helped make the crew feel so welcome.

Today the menmen at st'a7mes school gathered at Jimmy Jimmy slough near the village of wiw'km to strengthen our ties and relationships with our sts'ukwi7 relatives.

We released 50,000 chum into the Slough. Sending them off with our good thoughts and feelings.

Our hands are raised to Squamish Nation rights and title department, tenderfoot fish hatchery, Uncle Randy, the Squamish Valley elders and all the other adults that make this day possible.
