Learning math with gummy bears made it extra fun today!

Kindergartners are having fun learning about the five senses. This week we focused on smell and taste, smelling different scents and tasting a variety of flavours. The children loved trying to guess each one!

we learned all about the letter P… and of course that means Penguins!

We explored how penguins stay warm and dry in icy water. Penguins are waterproof because they have densely packed, overlapping feathers that trap a layer of air to keep them warm. They also have a thick layer of fat (called blubber) under their skin for extra insulation. Even cooler penguins produce oil from a special gland that helps keep their feathers waterproof so water can’t reach their skin!

To bring our learning to life, we used crayons to colour our penguins and then we added water drops of water to see what would happen. Just like real penguin feathers, the wax in the crayons helped “repel” the water. The children loved watching the water bead up!

Hands-on learning makes science so exciting!

Last week of Arctic Fun with our kindergarten class! ❄️ We had an exciting obstacle course our polar bears crawled through the cave, our hares hopped along, and everyone practiced their best penguin waddle.

Friday fun in the classroom as the children worked together to make pancakes! This activity helped build teamwork, following directions, and hands-on learning skills.

During the month of January, our kindergarten students have been learning all about the Arctic environment and the animals that live there, with a focus on the polar bear and the pigeon. We have talked about where these animals live, what they eat, and how they survive in their habitats. It has been wonderful to see the children engaged and excited to learn.

Our Kindergarten group has been busy learning and exploring from letters and numbers to hands-on science fun!
This week’s highlight was all about the letter E — we learned the sounds it makes and even did a little egg science experiment to match!

Halloween was full of excitement at Laugh and Learn with the Kindergarten!
The children enjoyed a festive day filled with themed fun activities, a “mummy” hotdog, ghost juice boxes, and a sweet selection of treats. We ended the celebration with a lively scavenger hunt, where the children worked together and nearly found every hidden item on their list.
