Traveler's Day - Friday, June 12th!
To celebrate the journey we’ve had this year and many more to come, Millgrove is celebrating by dressing as travelers! This could be a tacky tourist complete with a f***y pack, a Disneyland enthusiast, or even someone ready to explore the Rockies! Shirts from past travels are also wonderful ways to show one’s journeys.
This day is shore to be a mountain of fun!

Book Hero Day on May 29th!
As we approach the end of the year, we celebrate all of the
reading we have done throughout the year – at home, at school,
together, and on our own! On May 29th, we ask that students dress as their favourite character from a book. This can be as simple or as extravagant as you would like to make it!
We can’t wait to see all the characters come to life!

Last week, we also welcomed Albertan author, Lisa Bowes, to Millgrove School! Lisa has been publishing books since 2010 when she wrote her first picture book to begin a very popular series "Lucy Tries" about many different sports. We have many of her books from this series in our Millgrove library collection.
Leading up to the author visit, Mrs. Pirie and Mrs. Paton had students create their own "(Name) Tries..." cover page with an activity they are interested in trying, just like Lucy! Lisa was surprised with the beautiful art by our students!
Lisa is a former sports journalist and physical education graduate. She is passionate about making a difference in youth physical activity and reading literacy rates. Thank you for visiting Millgrove for two sessions with our students!
