June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada. Please take some special time to discuss the importance of this month and to celebrate the amazing contributions of the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit people of Canada.

A special thank-you as well to all our local Indigenous community partners who have helped leverage this wonderful work in our school: Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Center, Cree Language Warrior Barbara Scott, Abraham Lake Singers and Dancers, Bannock Kohkom Linda Sinclair-Anderson, maskêkosak kiskinomâtowikamik (Enoch School), and Elder Philip Campiou. ❤️

Outdoor Classroom Day is a global movement dedicated to celebrating and inspiring outdoor play and learning in schools and homes. Each year, teachers are encouraged to take their classes outside to experience the academic, physical, and mental health benefits of nature. May 21st is a day of recognition when ALL are once again encouraged and challenged to do so! 🌎🌳

Each year on the 3rd Thursday in May, hundreds of thousands of Canadians join together in ceremony and solidarity with the goal of ending gender-based violence. Wear your Moose hide pin on Thursday May 14th to show your support and advocacy for the Moose Hide Campaign and those in need of support!

Even though it’s a short week, there are some amazing things happening this week at STA. 💙
