Throwback Thursday...
To celebrate the beginning of summer, our 3s made colourful popsicles! This craft is super easy, and a great way to use up scraps of tissue paper. Thanks to for the idea!

Our 4s made adorable snowman ornaments for Christmas last year! This was a fine motor workout - cutting, drawing, gluing, and manipulating those tiny pieces!

Memory Monday...
One of our favourite sensory bins this year was an Olympic-themed bin! We used salt and coloured chickpeas for the base, then added plastic ice cubes, snowflakes, maple leaves, and red letters. Gold and silver cups, mini colanders, tongs, and scoops were the perfect tools to finish off our bin.
Of course sensory bins offer amazing sensory play for children, but there was so much more learning to come from this bin too:
💡Communication: sharing materials, sharing ideas
💡Literacy: letter identification, early spelling
💡Numeracy: sorting, size, counting, capacity
💡Science: properties of materials
💡Fine Motor: manipulating tools, picking up small pieces
..and more!
Want to join our fun? Preschool registration for September 2026 - June 2027 classes is underway, with very limited space remaining! Contact [email protected] for more information.

Throwback Thursday...
We love an interactive snack! During our bug unit this spring, we had to incorporate a buggy snack - Ants on a Log. Little ones spread Wowbutter or Cheez Whiz on celery, then added raisins, dried cranberries, or pumpkin seeds as the ants. They loved trying different combinations to find their favourite version of this healthy snack 🐜🪵

Throwback Thursday...
Our little ones loved colouring under the table this spring! Upside down colouring has so many fine and gross motor benefits (look at their beautiful pencil grasp 👀). Our kiddos also practised their social skills while they jockeyed for space and shared materials. As an added bonus that we didn't expect, the novelty factor attracted quite a few little ones who would never normally choose to colour!

Happy Father's Day to all of our Little Lightbulbs dads, grandpas, uncles, and more! 💛
Our 4s had the opportunity to try wet felting with our friend Rae Daynes. They created scrubby soaps for their dads. First little ones pulled and layered tufts of wool to build nests for their bars of soap. Then they wrapped up the soap like a present, put it in a nylon sock, and dipped it in water. As kiddos scrubbed the sock in their hands and on bubble wrap, the wool felted together around the soap!

Have you ever held a bubble? This "bouncing bubbles" science experiment is a favourite every year!
Kiddos are amazed that they can catch and even bounce the bubbles, but they're also building:
💡Scientific understanding
💡Body awareness
💡Hand-eye coordination
💡Self-control
💡Persistence
and more!
What's the secret recipe? Add sugar to your bubble solution! The bubbles should bounce off most soft fabrics; we find socks work well. (This will be sticky mess, so outside is best if the weather allows!)

One of our classes was lucky to follow along with the butterfly hatch at Laugh and Learn Academy School Age Daycare! We visited four times to see caterpillars, chrysalids, butterflies, and finally to hold the butterflies! Miss Katie was so welcoming to our little ones as she taught them all about the butterfly life cycle and gave them a close-up look at each stage. Thank you for including us, Laugh & Learn! 🐛🦋
Laugh & Learn Academy offers a Kindergarten Enrichment program that complements your child's Kindergarten class in their regular school. They have only one spot left in their 2026 - 2027 class!

Happy Mother's Day to all of our Little Lightbulbs moms, grandmas, aunts, and more! 💛
Our 4s were so proud to make beautiful marbled artwork for their moms this week, and they had the most thoughtful ideas about why they love their moms:
💡I love when Mommy combs my hair!
💡I love that Mommy warms up my warm up penguin when I'm sick!
💡My mom is the best at doing yoga and doing work!
