September 30th is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. As we do not have school on September 30th, we wear orange at SGCHS tomorrow, Sept. 29.
It’s a time to remember the children who never returned home and to honour Survivors and their families. Reconciliation is rooted in the courage to listen, the humility to acknowledge past and ongoing harms, and an unwavering commitment to upholding the truth while confronting denialism in all forms. We stand in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples today and every day, committing ourselves to the essential, ongoing work of truth-telling and meaningful reconciliation.

Le 30 septembre, nous soulignons la Journée du chandail orange et la Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation. Comme il n'y a pas école le 30 septembre, nous porterons du orange à SGCHS demain, le 29 septembre.
C’est l’occasion d’honorer la mémoire des enfants qui ne sont jamais revenus chez eux et de rendre hommage aux survivants et à leurs proches. La réconciliation repose sur le courage de l’écoute, l’humilité de reconnaître les torts d’hier et d’aujourd’hui, ainsi qu’une volonté ferme de faire valoir la vérité tout en dénonçant le dénialisme sous toutes ses formes. Nous sommes solidaires des peuples autochtones aujourd’hui et chaque jour, et nous nous engageons dans le travail essentiel et continu de vérité et de réconciliation véritable.

*Has a diagnosed cognitive, physical, or learning disability (no requirement for degree of disability)
*Currently attending or entering high school in Fall 2026 (Grade 10, 11, or 12)
*Shows commitment to their academics and has a plan for the future.
*Willing to participate in mentorship – not mandatory.

How to apply:

Go to: https://easterseals.ab.ca/scholarships/ to find the form.
Submit a cover letter (motivation, academic commitment, challenges faced, financial need, etc., plus a photo for media use if approved)
Submit documentation (letter) attesting to your disability from a healthcare professional
Submit proof of current high school enrollment
Note: You can submit supporting documents to [email protected] after completing the online application form.

The deadline for submitting the online application form is September 30th. Funds are limited, so the sooner they apply, the better!

Wednesday, September, 2026 is a TCT (Teacher Collaboration Time) day.
TCT occurs in the morning, approximately once per month, until 10 a.m. PSD Transportation is not impacted - students transported by bus will arrive at the regular time. All other students can arrive at their regular start time to work quietly, or wait until 10 a.m. The school is open and supervision is provided; however, students are not to loiter in or outside of the building and must report to their designated space until 10:00.

Block 1 begins at 10:06, and the day ends at 3:07.
There is no seminar on TCT days.

Tomorrow, interested Grade 12 students can attend a presentation on Post-Secondary information and ApplyAlberta in the Horizon Stage.

Grade 10 students who are on-campus are required to be in the CAFETERIA.
Grade 11/12 students who are on-campus are required to be in the LOUNGE.
Students assigned to DLR must be in the LIBRARY. This is also a quiet work space for other students for the duration of TCT time.
