We have something really exciting in store!

Save the date as we bring Postpartum Support international’s Climb Out of the Darkness fundraising event to White Rock and South Surrey for the first time!

More info to come on how you can be involved to help raise awareness and funds for the postpartum mental health and wellness of families.

Can’t wait to have you Climb With Us!!

When is the last time you intentionally disconnected from screens to connect with yourself and life in front of you?

It can be hard, inconvenient and scary to do this depending on what we are "getting out of" screen time. Many of us are afraid of falling behind, missing out on friends/events/information, losing our "escape" (disassociation) time, dealing with uncertainty, being forgotten, etc.

I spent the last days with my family in an area with no cell phone reception. It was exactly what we all needed. Yet I resisted it - pretty hard - initially. I knew I was missing some important dates.

After letting go of my resistance, the world in front of me became "alive" again. I made more eye contact with my kids, I saw the "little things," I noticed what was stealing my energy - I became more present again to my surrounding, people around me and myself. I remembered about boundaries and second chances. Nature was certainly a great therapist.

It's really easy to get caught up in looking to our phones and screens to feel connected to the world. While this can work wonders to lessen isolation (i.e. when its hard to get out with a new baby), it can also do the opposite. The online world is an area that continually tests the boundaries and limits of each of us.

We only have so much bandwidth to take in information. When you are a prospective, expecting or new parent there is a lot going on both inside and outside of you. Many report feeling overstimulated. Unfortunately, screens do little to help with this.

While you may want your phone to tag along for emergency purposes, here’s to a little encouragement to turn off the screens and get outside. To live connected in the moment you are in, to those around you (including nature) and to yourself. More on this at a later date but until then...

Best wishes for a beautiful little adventure, full of both amazing - and imperfect - moments.
