Harmony Project Sooke

This afternoon was an exciting first for the young musicians of HPS Senior Orchestra...to participate in the dress rehearsal of the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra and play with the whole Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra under Conductor Yariv Aloni!

HPS students sat among the Sooke Philharmonic members to rehearse the Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46 by Edvard Grieg.

Asked how they liked it, one young musician said: "It was fun, and scary!" Hope they'll be able to sleep well tonight as they anticipate the actual concert tomorrow afternoon.

Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra's Spring Concert on Sunday Apr 12 at the Sooke Community Hall at 2:30pm. Tonight at 6pm!! HPS Spring Chamber Concert & Social at Knox Presbyterian...there will be Cake! Come hear performances by Strings Students and Teachers, followed by refreshments and neighbourly conversation.

This is an opportunity for the HPS community to gather, and also a way to help sustain HPS music programs. Any amount given is deeply needed and appreciated, but Tax Receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more!

Drumline Calgary Trip by DL Teachers, Lachlan Barry and Chris Rivolier:

Harmony Senior Drumline was incredibly thrilled to participate at this year's Arts in Motion 2026 in Calgary, AB. The Calgary Stampede Showband were generous hosts that provided free entrance to the event for Harmony members along with special access to watch the dress rehearsals.

This proved to be a highly enriching musical experience for our members. Witnessing the indoor drumline activity at a highly competitive level brought upon immense insight for our members. Members feel invigorated and stalwart in their commitment to musical excellence with Harmony Project. This tour has additionally opened new opportunities for the program which we are striving to initiate for the coming years.

Harmony Drumline is excited for their upcoming performances in springtime. Staff and members believe that this tour to Calgary will have a profound effect on our performance capabilities and recruitment.
