My name is Melanie and I am an RECE. I opened Melanie's Home Day Care in 2005. I love working with children! We are currently looking for new friends!

I have experience with young infants to school-aged children. I have worked in Day Care centers and decided to open my own Home Day Care when my children were young. I have created this page to share what we do at Melanie's Home Day Care! I offer lots of crafts, playtime, learning activities, outdoor time, healthy snacks and meals and most of TLC! If you are interested in finding out more information about our Day Care please send me a message!

Time flies when you are having fun!
We are still here just not posting as often on our page. We have been busy working on Christmas crafts and activities.
I hope all have a wonderful Christmas!

We put away most of our summer toys in preparation for winter so our yard felt a little sad. But we discovered that sleds are not just for snow and we can use them on grass and sand!
We have changed our outdoor schedule as well as it is now too cold for outdoor snacks. We are really enjoying indoor play!
With all the rain at the end of the week our Pickler triangle was well used for our gross motor play.
We enjoyed an assortment of fun Halloween crafts over the week with pumpkin carving too.
We celebrated Halloween with costumes and fun Halloween games!

Last week we enjoyed some rainy day play collecting water. We worked on raking up the leaves as they continue to fall.
Lots of excitement starting for Halloween and we are loving all our Halloween songs and stories. We are also excited to make Halloween crafts too.
We have switched to our winter play schedule which has us outdoors in the earlier morning and indoors for snack, craft and an indoor play time.

We have been enjoying our fall mornings outdoors with all the leaves, sunflowers and our pumpkins. Lots of sand play lately with some group construction play.
We started talking about Halloween more with our stories and songs. They are loving all our Halloween crafts too.
We had a shorter play outdoors at the end of the week as it is getting a little too chilly for our wetter snacks. That gave us time for some fun indoor play! They loved the Halloween sensory table setup!

We enjoyed lots of outdoor play last week!
Lots of leaves in our yard so we have been raking them but they also love playing in them and transporting them in trucks and carts.
We created lots of Thanksgiving crafts. We talked about what we are thankful for and enjoyed Thanksgiving stories and songs.

The last few weeks have flown by! I guess we were too busy having fun to realize!
We enjoyed releasing our monarch butterfly that finally emerged and finding wooly bear caterpillars in our yard.
We enjoyed picking apples from our neighbour's tree and lots of apple baking.
Our sunflowers have been inspiring us too. We enjoyed pulling them apart to find seeds and using them as props in play.
The addition of mini pumpkins to our play kitchen brought back memories from last year and are lots of fun to catapult!
We have begun to read Thanksgiving and fall stories and songs.

We started our week off with baking apple pies to take home and share. Some friends where very excited to tell me how they shared their pie with!
We enjoyed the week outdoors for our play times. We have been watching the birds and animals in our yard. One morning we were very quiet so we could watch the bunny eat in our fence area. We have seen the chipmunks and squirrels running around and carrying food for the winter.
Lots of crafting this week!

We have enjoyed another beautiful week with lots of outdoor play! We are settling into our new group and building more connections with our friends.
We are working on red, yellow and green with our continued crafts, stories and songs on apples and buses.
A short walk today to check on the neighbour's apple trees...so many apples! We also checked on our pumpkins and picked some yummy tomatoes!

We have a new butterfly cocoon that we got over holidays from J's house and have been checking on the cocoon daily and can't wait to see our monarch butterfly.
We enjoyed a walk today and checking on the fruit trees in the area!

Wow I am a little slow posting some of the photos from our last week of "summer" before our 2 week holiday. We had great last week ending with a very excited group for our annual end of summer icecream sundaes!
We also had lots of tears from Melanie as 3 of our friends are headed to kindergarten. We will really miss them lots and lots. But we know they are ready for kindergarten! Good luck Miss B Miss P and Mr F!

Last week we enjoyed lots of outdoor play! We had a toad visitor in our sand area and were able to observe for a while before it hid on us. We picked carrots, beans and peas from our garden and added them to our lunch.
We celebrated Miss P turning 4!
Pirate day was a blast! They loved walking the plank and sensory science activity.
We ended the week with drive in movie day! They were so excited about their cars and loved colouring them. They enjoyed a special treat too!
