On Friday we marked an important milestone as we announced a new partnership between Confederation College and Seven Generations Education Institute (SGEI).

Together, we are committed to creating new opportunities for learners across Northwestern Ontario through community-based, culturally grounded education that reflects the strengths of our region and the communities we serve.

Current students will continue their studies as planned. Students will continue to receive joint SGEI and Confederation College credentials, and Confederation College will continue to maintain a regional presence through workforce development, Northwest Employment Works, and regional partnerships.

June is National Indigenous History Month.

At Confederation College, we recognize and honour the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples across Canada. We are committed to learning from Indigenous voices, respecting diverse traditions, and supporting Indigenous students and communities every day.

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, a time to recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. Indigenous Peoples have lived on and cared for these lands since time immemorial, and their knowledge, resilience, and leadership continue to shape communities across the country today.

National Indigenous History Month is also an opportunity for reflection. It invites us to acknowledge the ongoing impacts of colonization and consider how each of us can contribute to meaningful reconciliation through learning, understanding, and action.

One of the most meaningful ways to deepen our understanding is by listening to Indigenous voices and engaging with Indigenous stories, perspectives, and experiences.

How can you learn more?

• Read books by Indigenous authors (check out the Negahneewin Collection in the Library)
• Attend local cultural events and community gatherings (scan the QR on the June Calendar to find them!)
• Watch films, documentaries, and performances by Indigenous creators
• Listen to music by Indigenous artists
• Follow First Nations, Inuit, and Métis creators and organizations on social media

National Indigenous Peoples Day, celebrated annually on June 21, is an important opportunity to honour Indigenous cultures and achievements. Communities across Canada mark the occasion with festivals, cultural performances, ceremonies, educational activities, and community celebrations that highlight the diversity and vibrancy of Indigenous Peoples.

This June, take time to learn, listen, and celebrate the stories, traditions, and cultures that have shaped this land for generations and continue to enrich our communities today.

Happy Pride Month! 🌈
Wishing you a month full of celebration, love, and support—whether you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community or an ally. It’s a great time to honor diversity, reflect on progress, and continue advocating for inclusion and equality.

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH! 🌈

Pride Month is a time to celebrate the diversity, resilience, and contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. It promotes self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and visibility while recognizing the ongoing work toward greater inclusion, understanding, and human rights for all.

Perhaps above all, Pride Month reminds us of the strength of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and inspires the continued pursuit of equality and freedom around the world.

At SUCCI, we celebrate diversity and inclusion and are committed to fostering a campus community where everyone feels valued, respected, supported, and empowered to be their authentic selves.
