Dear Parents of Creative Kids!

What got you started learning music?

Was it a piece of music you loved, or a desire to explore and be creative?

But when you actually took lessons…the reality wasn’t what you expected.

And somewhere along the line you lost that creative drive…preparing for exams, sight-reading, scales, theory, and so on…

Have your children started lessons, excited to be CREATIVE, but soon found themselves just memorizing pieces?

Playing them over and over, and complaining about having to practice?

Sure, there’s a place for music fundamentals, but where’s the creativity in that?

If you've ever felt this way, it may be because our performance and exam-focused training doesn't prepare us to actually CREATE music, but to RE-CREATE and interpret it.

In all our learning, we lost why we wanted to play music in the first place.

David Lane is one of our voice teachers, and has spent the past 7 years touring the globe with his internationally recognized a ca****la groups Cadence (Toronto) and Duwende (New York City), with whom he has appeared on America’s Got Talent, opened for Jay Leno, and performed with artists such as Bobby McFerrin and David Clayton-Thomas.
