Sherwood Park : We’re putting the band back together.

The world has enough lukewarm sandwiches and meetings that could have been emails. Your instrument deserves better than closet time.

The Hootsuite Big Band community is launching a brand-new, adult, community-powered contemporary and swing ensemble led by conductor Eric Weiden. No auditions. A comfortable playing level of around 2–3 years is welcome, along with a willingness to learn, count rhythms, sight-read charts with up to 4 sharps, and laugh through the occasional missed note. There will be notes. Some of them may even be the correct ones.

We’ll explore swing, dance music, film music, funk, contemporary, Country AND Western: because musical variety is good for the soul and considerably more fun than assembling furniture.

Rehearsals start Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 7:30–9:30 PM at Classic Studios, 4 Raven Drive, Sherwood Park, downstairs. You can join at any time: no need to wait for the next big musical origin story.

Tuition is installments of $60 a month, and your first rehearsal is free.

Tomorrow is a huge day! We’re headed to Edmonton’s premiere jazz venue, The Yardbird Suite, for our Annual Year-End Recital.

Performance times: 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm.

Please note: To avoid interruptions for our performers, doors will remain closed while students are on stage.

This isn't just a performance: it’s a celebration of every scale practiced and every challenge overcome. From beginners to advanced players, seeing them take the iconic Yardbird stage is truly magical.

Is it Tuesday? Or is it actually Friday-Eve? If you sit close enough to a plate of schnitzel and some live piano music, the calendar starts to look a lot more flexible.

Tuesday is usually that awkward day where you’ve finished the Monday survival marathon but the weekend still feels like it’s in a different time zone. It’s the "middle child" of the work week: often overlooked, but full of potential if you treat it right. My philosophy is simple: if you have enough breaded veal and a good melody, your brain can’t really tell the difference between a Tuesday night and a Friday night. It’s a biological loophole I’m happy to exploit.

I’m back at the keys at Continental Treat from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Come help me celebrate the fact that we’ve made it this far into the week. We’ll have some laughs, some great food, and maybe even forget that tomorrow is Wednesday for a few hours. It’s amazing what a little music and a lot of butter can do for your outlook on life.

🎼 Dinner Tonight: Escape to Eastern Europe Without Packing a Sweater. Details below! 🤤 🎟️

Is there anything more beautiful than a Friday evening where the only decision you have to make is how much gravy is socially acceptable on a piece of breaded veal? I think not.

Tonight is the night, my friends. I’ll be at the Continental Treat from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, tickling the ivories while you tickle your tastebuds with the finest schnitzel in the land. It’s basically a scientific fact that live piano music makes fried meat taste 42% more majestic. It’s the kind of evening that restores your faith in humanity, or at least your faith in the magic of a deep fryer.

This is your final reminder. If you aren't there, I’ll assume you’ve been kidnapped by a rival polka band or you’re just really committed to your sweatpants. Come for the music, stay for the schnitzel, and let's pretend the rest of the world isn't a dumpster fire for a few hours.
