On Monday, March 27, 2023, at approximately 8:30 p.m., in Louiseville, located west of Trois-Rivières, Sergeant Maureen Breau of the Sûreté du Québec and her colleague were attempting to arrest a 35-year-old man for making threats near Saint-Aimé Street and Saint-Laurent Avenue. While the officers were advising him of his legal rights, the suspect took out a bladed weapon, possibly a sword, and used it to strike Sgt. Breau in the neck. She then fell from a second-floor balcony. Her colleague also suffered injuries during the altercation but is expected to survive. One of the two officers who responded to assist shot and killed the suspect. Sgt. Breau died from her injuries.
Sgt. Maureen Breau was in her early forties and had been a member of the Quebec provincial police for 20 years. She was assigned to the detachment serving the Regional County Municipality of Maskinongé. The vast majority of her career was dedicated to patrol duties or supervising a patrol team. Sgt. Breau was working overtime at the time of her death. She was four days away from beginning a new position in investigations. Her spouse is also an officer with the Sûreté du Québec, and she was the mother of two children.
Our condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Sgt. Maureen Breau. We will remember her.

This marks one of the darkest days in the history of the Edmonton Police Service. 🚑
On March 16th, 2023, we were robbed of two of Edmonton's finest. Constables Brett Ryan and Travis Jordan were fatally injured while responding to a family dispute in an apartment complex.
Upon arrival, Cst. Ryan and Cst. Travis Jordan went inside the building, approached the suite, and were ambushed by the young male suspect. The two officers were rushed to the hospital, where they were both declared deceased.
Cst. Ryan was 30 years old and had 5.5 years of service with the Edmonton Police Service. Cst. Jordan was 35 years old and had 8.5 years of service with the Edmonton Police Service.
These two officers were among the best. The circumstances were such that the suspect's mother didn't know that he was in possession of a firearm. As the two officers approached the suite, they were ambushed and gunned down.
This was a senseless and tragic loss to our community and city. We will never forget them. 🇨🇦

Cst. Beyak was the first female 👮 RCMP officer killed in the line of duty.
She participated in many sports and activities. She was an outstanding figure skater, a member of the 4-H club and a member of the Sopilka Ukrainian Dancers. Prior to joining the Force, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from the University of Manitoba. Cst. Beyak always wanted to be a police officer. A troop mate of hers said that she "embodied optimism, hope, excitement for a new career”. Cst. Beyak was attending a call for assistance when she edged her vehicle out across the centre line to see if she could pass a slow-moving transport truck that was throwing blinding snow onto her windshield. When she edged her vehicle out, she instantly collided head-on with the Coroner, who had just left a collision scene. An ambulance then rear-ended the Coroner. Cst. Beyak is buried in the cemetery of Winnipegosis, MB.

An amazing capture.
This officer is Chief Edwards, Chief of Manhattan North, seconds after he spotted ISIS terrorist Amir Balat lighting the IED in NYC this weekend. His eyes were locked on target as he went over the barricade in pursuit. God love Chief Edwards, what a hero!
Apparently, these frames (in comments) were split seconds apart. All credit to the photographer.
