is honoured to announce the establishment of the Marjorie Elizabeth Goodfellow Chair in English Quebec Studies, made possible through an estimated $2-million contribution from the estate of Marjorie Elizabeth Goodfellow ’59, DCL ’93.
A proud Bishop’s alumna, lifelong community advocate, researcher, and founding member of the Townshippers’ Association, Marjorie dedicated much of her life to supporting and preserving the history of English-speaking communities in Quebec.
The new Chair will advance scholarly research, teaching, and public engagement on English-speaking Quebec, including its history, culture, language, and evolving identity within Quebec and Canada.
Through interdisciplinary research, student mentorship, community outreach, public lectures, conferences, and knowledge-sharing initiatives, the Chair will help strengthen connections between academic research and lived experience.
This generous gift carries forward Marjorie’s life’s work and reflects Bishop’s longstanding commitment to Quebec’s English-speaking communities.

Last week, we had the joy of celebrating our graduating international students. On Saturday, 72 international students crossed the Convocation stage, and we couldn’t be more proud.
At Wednesday’s celebration, they received a special Bishop’s pin, a small keepsake to carry with them wherever their next journey takes them.
Congratulations to all of them. 💜
