One of my favourite things to do as a piano teacher is specifically pick out pieces that I think will be inspiring and motivating for my students. Sometimes a new tune is just what is needed to create a refreshing practice incentive!

Tip of the Week: After each lesson, place your child’s piano books and lesson assignment directly on the music stand. Bonus points if you open them to the correct song and assignment page!
Students are far more likely to remember to practice (or even to sit down at the piano to noodle around), if they notice that their books are open and ready. If books are hidden in the bench, in a backpack, or forgotten in the vehicle, it may take days for the books to actually make it to the piano.
