Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

PLACE: Flinton Community Garden (72 Edward Street, West of the Township Office

We understand that this particular date is also the day of the Land O’Lakes Community Services 50th Anniversary Celebration. In an effort to accommodate the busy schedules of our local dignitaries (who travel a great distance, to support our vast riding) and who kindly show up to support most local community events, this date was chosen, with our celebration being before they are scheduled to appear in Northbrook.

The Flinton Community Garden was built by the community, for the community with the ongoing support from Addington Highlands Township.

Many businesses, individuals and organizations have generously donated to the development of the inclusive, accessible space. We want to recognize this huge community achievement. We feel that this marks an important Milestone in our community for fostering growth and connection.

There have been studies showing the benefits of community gardens improving mental health, reducing stress, anxiety and depression. Together, we built an accessible pad with accessible raised beds to offer a nature connection; grow food to support our community, provide a social connection, in a beautiful sustainable green space. This joint Township/Community endeavour shows the strength and resilience we are proud to represent in Addington Highlands.

The community garden is a reflection of our community pride.

Join us at the garden (10-12) and then make your way to the festivities in Northbrook (10-3).

I would be disadvantaged if I were unable to use a smart phone or computer, for example.”

We would encourage our learners past and present to consider joining our Board of Directors! You can offer suggestions for programming!

In particular, we are seeking board members who have experience in one or more of the following areas: fundraising, social media, Board governance or finance/accounting.
