🍂 A little long-weekend closet clean-out can make a BIG difference! 🧤🧣

With the Thanksgiving long weekend here, it’s the perfect time to go through those closets, mudrooms and storage bins! 🧥🧦

The Rotary Club of Selkirk Winter Clothing Drive is collecting new and gently used winter clothing, skates and hockey equipment to help those in need in Northern Manitoba. ❤️

Have extra winter coats, mittens, toques, scarves or skates your family has outgrown? Pass them along and help someone stay warm, get active and enjoy the winter months ahead!

📅 Donation deadline: October 14, 2026

📍 Donations can be dropped off at participating Lord Selkirk School Division schools and the other locations listed on the poster.

So, while you’re tackling that long-weekend to-do list, why not add a little giving to your closet clean-out? One family’s outgrown gear could make a world of difference to another. ❤️

A morning filled with love, stories, culture and community. ❤️

Today, we officially celebrated the renaming of École Selkirk Junior High to École Murray Sinclair Middle School - a meaningful tribute to the Honourable Murray Sinclair, who grew up in Selkirk and once walked these very halls.

It was a beautiful morning filled with many special moments: the powerful sound of drumming, dancing, heartfelt stories shared by members of the Sinclair family and friends, and the coming together of students, staff, families, community members and dignitaries.

Hearing personal stories about Murray Sinclair as a father, grandfather, friend, community member and leader brought an incredibly personal meaning to this celebration. His legacy now lives on in a place that is part of his own story - a school in the community where he grew up.

Thank you to the Sinclair family and friends for sharing your stories with us, to community member Cheryl for her beautiful gifting of a star blanket, to our performers, student presenters, Knowledge Keepers, Elders and to all of the dignitaries, members of the RCMP, community members, staff and students who joined us for this special occasion.

Today was about more than a new name.

It was about honouring a life, celebrating a legacy and creating a new chapter in our school’s story.

Welcome to École Murray Sinclair Middle School. 🧡
