The Grade 3 and 6 students will be writing EQAO next week or the week after. Did you know you can go to the EQAO site and see sample tests and questions. Why not try some with your child and see the different ways you can solve the same problem.

100th Day of School! 100th Day of School! 100th Day of School! Yes it's true - students at SNCDSB have been at school for 100 days (not counting weekends, PD Days or holidays). Ask your children if they did anything to mark the 100th day. A lot of classrooms count up starting in September, so the children begin to understand the magnitude of 100.

Phasing Out the Penny
As of February 4th, 2013, the Canadian Mint is no longer distributing pennies. The Government expects that taxpayers will save $11 million a year from phasing out the penny.
The cent will remain Canada’s smallest unit for pricing goods and services.

This will have no impact on payments made by cheque or electronic transactions – only cash transactions will be affected. Pennies can still be used in cash transactions indefinitely with businesses that choose to accept them.
