🌸 5 stem conditioning mistakes that are killing your flowers (and your confidence) before you even start designing. Save this β€” your future bouquets will thank you.

Wrong Cut
βœ‚οΈ Mistake #1: You're not cutting your stems properly.
A flat cut can seal against the bottom of your bucket and block water uptake. Always cut at a 45Β° angle β€” and make sure it's a FRESH cut every time stems go into water. Dull snips? That's a whole other problem. Sharp tools only. 🌿

Foliage Below Waterline
πŸƒ Mistake 2: Leaving foliage below the waterline.
Those leaves sitting in your bucket water? They're rotting. And that rot is clogging your stems and killing your flowers way before their time. Strip anything that hits the water β€” every single time. Non-negotiable.

Skipping Flower Food + Dirty Buckets
πŸͺ£ Mistake 3: Dirty buckets + no flower food.
Your bucket looks clean. It's probably not. Bacteria builds up fast and clogs stems before you've even touched a stem to design. Wash your buckets with antibacterial soap, and yes β€” use your flower food. It's not optional, it's professional.

Not Conditioning Before Designing
⏰ Mistake 4: Diving straight into designing.
I get it β€” the flowers are gorgeous and you want to go. But skipping conditioning is one of the biggest reasons new florists end up with droopy arrangements. Give your blooms at least 2 hours (overnight is even better) to fully hydrate before you touch them. Patience = longer-lasting designs.

Overcrowding Buckets
🌷 Mistake 5: Cramming too many stems into one bucket.
More stems β‰  more efficient. Overcrowded buckets mean less water access, crushed stems, and damaged blooms. Give your flowers room to drink and breathe. Multiple buckets aren't extra β€” they're just good practice.
