What’s one thing YOU can do this month to help the planet? ♻

Our Developmental Service Worker (DSW) students begin placement after successfully completing required coursework and submitting all mandatory placement documentation, including a vulnerable sector check, medical requirements, CPR/First Aid certification, and any additional site-specific requirements.

Placements are designed to give students real-world experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in meaningful and person-centered environments. Students may complete placements in community programs, schools, day programs, residential settings, group homes, behavioural support programs, and other social service organizations.

Through practicum, students gain hands-on experience building communication, independence, emotional support, behavioural support, and community integration skills while working alongside experienced professionals in the field.

As part of our accelerated 6-month PSW program, students participate in hands-on lab sessions designed to help build confidence, teamwork, and real-world healthcare skills before entering placement. From patient care techniques to mobility and support training, these practical experiences help prepare students for the realities of the healthcare field.

Ivy Donna teaches in the Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program and brings valuable real-world experience to the classroom as a dedicated nurse.

Passionate about patient care, compassion, and student success, Ivy Donna is committed to creating a supportive learning environment where students feel confident, encouraged, and prepared for the healthcare field.

Through hands-on learning, guidance, and genuine care for her students, she is proud to help shape the next generation of compassionate healthcare professionals.

One of the most important parts of learning is having a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and growing together.

At CLI College Scarborough, our students have opportunities to meet with instructors on campus for discussions, support sessions, collaborative learning, and guidance throughout their educational journey. These moments help strengthen confidence, communication skills, and real-world understanding as students prepare for meaningful careers in community and developmental services.
