🧡🧡 Learning, Remembering & Honouring 🧡🧡

Our JK/SK students from Mme Major and Mme Amato’s classes spent some special time with Mlle DiPasquale during a Culture Block, learning about Orange Shirt Day and why it is an important day of remembrance, reflection, and reconciliation. 🧡

Through age-appropriate conversations, stories, and activities, our youngest Sharks learned that Every Child Matters and that we can honour the past by choosing kindness, respect, and understanding. 🧡

To help keep the learning and message in their hearts, our students created memory rocks — a small reminder that we remember, we care, and we carry these lessons with us. 🪨🧡

Today was a very special day at St. Mary’s French Immersion as we came together to celebrate faith, language, leadership, peace, and belonging! 🦈✨

🌟 Congratulations to our September Virtue Award recipients!
We are so proud of the students who have demonstrated our Catholic virtue of FAITH — La foi through their words, actions, kindness, and example. Your faith helps make our school community stronger! 💙🙏

🎤 A special thank you to Mlle Dipasquale’s NSL classes for leading our Virtue Assembly today! The drumming, singing, and speaking brought such a beautiful energy to our assembly and reinforced the important message behind why we were all wearing orange today. 🧡

🎶 Bravo to Mme Brown’s class!
Our Grade 2/3 students proudly presented a new French song with actions to our school community. We are so proud of their confidence, enthusiasm, and growing love of French! 🇫🇷💙

🇫🇷✨ Introducing our new “Excellence en français” recognition!
This year, we are excited to celebrate students who demonstrate excellence en français — whether through their effort, participation, confidence, persistence, or willingness to encourage others to speak French. Each month, one student from each class will be recognized for their accomplishments in French. Félicitations! 👏🎉

🧡🧡 ORANGE SHIRT DAY AT SMFI 🧡🧡

Today, our SMFI Sharks came together to remember, reflect, and remind one another that Every Child Matters. 🧡

In keeping with our theme “Becoming Artisans of Peace,” each class created a beautiful Peace Flower for our whole-school display. 🌸 Each petal represents a student and the many ways we can help peace grow through kindness, inclusion, respect, listening, and making others feel that they belong.

Our flowers may all look different, but together they create something beautiful — just like our school community. 🌼

🎨❤️ Art inspired by a Canadian hero!

Mme Maninos’ and Mme Pinder’s classes put their creativity to work creating these beautiful pieces of artwork in honour of Terry Fox. 🇨🇦

Through their art, our students reflected on Terry’s courage, determination, and the lasting impact of his Marathon of Hope.

We love seeing our Sharks learn about Terry’s legacy while expressing themselves through creativity! 🦈❤️

Vendredi, Mlle Reid et Mme Kelly ont accompagné leurs élèves au Old Stone House pour une journée remplie d’histoire, de découvertes et d’activités interactives! 🏡✨

On Friday, Mlle Reid and Mme Kelly took their students to the Old Stone House for a fun-filled day of history, discovery and hands-on learning! 🏡✨

Les élèves ont eu la chance de voyager dans le temps et de découvrir la vie d’autrefois à travers différentes activités interactives : histoire, vêtements d’époque, métiers, outils, traditions et même des activités militaires historiques! 🏡⚔️🪶
