Artist Bio courtesy of the Algoma Conservatory website:
"Gabrielle Abulencia, from the Philippines, has been shaping his voice on the guitar at Algoma University, presenting a repertoire ranging from classical Baroque, Latin American works, to a theme and variations on a traditional folk song of Japan, as well as exploring the concentration of Jazz improvisation. With nuanced approaches to modal standards like Nardis and singing romantic ballads.
Stepping outside of conventions, Gabrielle will also be performing a raw and unfiltered alternative track - embedding what can be described as a catharsis, from soft lines to heavy rhythmic guitar riffs. Extending his expressive range has always been a driving factor for personal artistic contentment, and this recital will finally bring in everything for this exact goal."
