Registration is now open for Tiny Tots & Tunes and Mini Maestros!

If you’ve got a little one who loves music—or you’re just looking for a great way to introduce them to it—these are our two programs designed specifically for our youngest students.

Tiny Tots & Tunes is for ages 1–3 and is a 45-minute parent/caregiver-and-child class. We sing, move, play rhythm games, use percussion instruments and generally make a little bit of noise together. It’s a gentle first introduction to music, but it’s also a nice chance for parents, grandparents and caregivers to get out, meet other families and enjoy something with their little one.

Mini Maestros is for ages 3–6 and gives kids a chance to participate independently and start exploring music for themselves. Over the 12-week program, they’ll try ukulele, percussion and singing, while being introduced to things like rhythm, melody and basic music theory through games, songs and activities.

There’s no need to already know what instrument they want to play—or to have any musical experience at all. The whole idea is to give them a chance to try things, have fun and see what they connect with.

Both classes are 45 minutes and registration is open now.

🎷🪗 Two new teachers. Two instruments you’ve been asking for.

As we continue growing our teaching team at Case’s Music, we’re also working to expand the kinds of lessons we can offer.

Two requests we’ve been hearing more and more? Saxophone and accordion.

So we’re very excited to welcome Letitia Neave and Mister Tähti to the Case’s Music teaching team!

🎷 Letitia Neave — Saxophone

Letitia brings a huge amount of musical and educational experience to the studio. She holds a degree in Music from the Algoma campus of Laurentian University and a degree in Education from Lakehead University.

Around the Sault, you may know her from The Phat Bastidz, Steeltown Silver Band, Algoma New Horizons Band or Concert Band Algoma.

For Letitia, music is about much more than learning notes. It builds discipline, perseverance, listening, collaboration and confidence—but, as she puts it, best of all, it’s fun.

With Letitia already bringing Algoma New Horizons Band and Concert Band Algoma into our space, adding saxophone lessons at Case’s felt like a very natural fit.

🪗 Mister Tähti — Accordion & Piano

Mister is a lifelong student and performer of music with a BA in Music from Algoma University, specializing in Piano and Vocal Performance.

He has performed across Canada both as a solo artist and in ensembles, with experience spanning a wide range of musical styles.

His approach to teaching is centred around helping students become confident, versatile and capable musicians—whether they’re beginning something completely new or building on skills they already have.

And yes: accordion lessons are officially here. We’ve had a growing number of people asking, and we’re very happy to finally be able to say yes.

These are just a few of the ways our lesson program is growing this year, with more new teachers, new programs and some exciting changes still to come.

Meet Jamie Talbot — one of SIX new teachers joining the other 11 amazing veteran instructors at Case’s Music!

We’ve been busy behind the scenes getting ready for a big year at Case’s Music. Our teaching team is growing, new programs are taking shape, and we have some exciting changes coming that we can’t wait to share.

First up, meet Jamie Talbot, our newest drum and percussion instructor!

A Sault Ste. Marie drummer and percussionist, Jamie has spent years studying with professional drummers in our community and currently performs with Peasant Poetry and Algoma University’s jazz ensembles.

Her experience spans rock, blues, country, jazz and more, with a strong background in improvisation, syncopation, call-and-response and ensemble playing. And her experience goes beyond the stage—Jamie also works professionally in the music industry as a roadie and drum technician.

Most importantly, Jamie has loved music and rhythm from a young age and is excited to pass that enthusiasm on to a new generation of musicians.

Whether you’re picking up the sticks for the first time or looking to take your playing further, now is a great time to get started.

That's right everyone, September registration is open. Now is a great time to lock in your timeslot with your teacher for the upcoming school year! If you are a returning student, or if you would like to try something new, now is the time!

I would like to take a moment to celebrate one of our amazing teachers, and the wonderful recognition they received for being an inclusive, enriching teacher, and overall good human.

Last night we were invited Community Living Algoma's AGM, where Craig West was honoured with the Community Partner Award. This award recognizes meaningful contributions to inclusion, community, and the lives of people with intellectual disabilities across the District of Algoma.

We have always had the vision of building up Case's Music to be an inclusive community that helps guide people along their musical journey. Craig is a teacher who really embodies that vision. His work with community members supported by CLA has had a lasting impact on them, and we are very grateful that he was recognized for that.

If you see Craig West in the wild, please give him a high five, and tell him he is a good man. He'll probably argue, but now we have proof.

Summer Camp starts in 2 weeks! I can't believe how quickly this year is flying by.

We've got some super fun crafts planned for the different age groups, but we need some help. If you can, hold on to your toilet paper, paper towel, wrapping paper, and tissue boxes for the next little bit. We would love to reuse them! If you can, drop them off at the store. If you are a business on Queen, we are going to head out with our wagon next week. Just give drop us a line and let us know if we can pop in!

It's the last week of lessons at Case's for the season, which means it is CONCERT WEEK! We kicked of concert week last night with performances from students throughout the evening, and a ton more through the rest of the week, with something special happening Wednesday evening that I'm sure student's will love.

We're very happy to be able to host our mini concerts right here in the lounge and to be able to give students the chance to perform in front of others. Performance is a big part of musicianship, and so is being an audience member! Thanks to all of the students and parents who are awesome and supportive audience members while our mini concerts are happening.

Still shocked that we are in our final week of regular classes. Don't worry, we are registering for summer camp, summer classes, and September, so there is still lots of music to be had!

So what is Mini Maestros?

It is a chance to explore a whole bunch of instruments before we jump into private lessons. We learn about stringed instruments, percussion, keyboards, singing, rhythm, and a whole bunch about music before we decide what we want to do! It is a great way to figure out what instruments excite us before choosing our focus in the private lesson world. Plus, we make new friends along the way!

Our last group of the year kicks off this Saturday, and there is still time to get registered!
