As another school year comes to a close, we reflect on all of the wonderful moments we've shared at SOAR. From building friendships to learning, collaborating, and celebrating together, this year has been filled with growth, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

We've had an amazing year and are already looking forward to all the exciting opportunities that next year will bring! Thank you to our students, families, staff, and community for making this year so special. Have a safe, happy, and well-deserved summer! 💙✨

We enjoyed a beautiful day outdoors at the park, playing games, exploring, and connecting with one another in the fresh air.

Days like this are a reminder of how powerful outdoor learning can be—where teamwork happens naturally, friendships grow, and students have space to move, reset, and simply enjoy being together.

🧡 National Indigenous Peoples Day 🧡

Today, June 21, we celebrate and honour the rich cultures, traditions, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is an opportunity to reflect on the strength, resilience, and wisdom of Indigenous communities, while recognizing the importance of listening, learning, and building meaningful relationships grounded in respect and reconciliation.

At GlenOak Academy, we are grateful for the opportunity to learn from and work alongside Indigenous students, families, educators, Elders, and communities. The knowledge, perspectives, and teachings shared with us enrich our work and inspire us every day.

We encourage everyone to take the time to learn about the Indigenous Peoples whose traditional territories you live, work, and learn upon, and to honour the enduring cultures and contributions that continue to shape our country each and every day.

🚔 A big thank you to our Police visitors for joining us at SOAR! 👮👮

Our students had the opportunity to explore police tools up close 🛠️, sit inside a police vehicle 🚓, and ask plenty of thoughtful questions 💭 about the important role police officers play as community helpers.

Hands-on experiences like these help bring learning to life 📚✨ while building connections with the people who help keep our communities safe 🤝❤️.

Building strong readers starts with strong foundations. 📚

Our students have been working hard using the UFLI program to strengthen their phonics, decoding, and fluency skills through engaging, hands-on learning activities. From sounding out words to building confidence in reading, it has been amazing to watch their growth each day!

Small steps lead to big progress, and we are so proud of the perseverance and determination our students continue to show. 🌟
