Today I attended the St. George’s Cathedral Easter Tea. What a treat to buy some Eater treats: like p***a, babka, skuffles, some beet relish and a poppy seed chiffon cake. Lovely to sit and have pie and tea with my cousins as well. This has been a long time tradition of preparing to celebrate Easter. We can all celebrate the resurrection and end of Lent soon!

Here is #4 focus that I think the Board of GSCS should address. Please share your views, comment here or dm me.
4. Classroom Complexity & Student Supports
* Today’s classrooms are more complex than ever.
Key realities:
* More students with diverse learning needs
* Growth in mental health challenges
* Increasing English language learners due to immigration
* Need for Indigenous student success and equity
As your trustee, I will work to :
* Prioritize equity and inclusion
* Ensure supports actually reach classrooms
* Track whether investments improve outcomes

GSCS trustee focus #3: my thoughts on what our board needs to consider. I would like to hear from you in the comments or dm me.
3. Adequate funding and sustaining divisional operations
Even when funding increases, it often lags behind growth and inflation.
* Boards must pass balanced budgets
* Funding increases are often not enough to maintain services
As a board trustee I will do my part to make difficult calls on what gets protected vs. reduced, push government for sustainable, predictable funding and ensure money aligns with student outcomes and the division’s mission.

Love this woman!
“I have known Yvonne Musey Johnson for over 29 years. As an educator, Yvonne is committed to those students on the edge: special needs, immigrant youth and Indigenous youth. She cares for them, helping to prepare for their future and advocates for their concerns.
Yvonne is also a creative thinker and is able to think out of the box and collaborates while working on a team.
As a teacher, she supported her colleagues by working for the STA, an organization which represents the concerns of all teachers city wide.
I fully endorse Yvonne Musey Johnson for the position of Catholic School Board Trustee. She has a keen concern for both students and teachers and exhibits a real desire to protect and enhance the values of Catholic education.”

GSCS Trustee Focus #2 - what I think is important for our division. Please add your thoughts in the comments or dm me. I’d love to hear from you!
2. Rapid Enrolment Growth & Infrastructure Crisis
This is arguably the biggest pressure right now.
* Over 23,000 students and growing fast
* Thousands of new students in just a few years
* Many schools are over capacity
* There is heavy reliance on portable classrooms
As your trustee, I would :
* Advocate to the province for new schools
* Decide where and when to build
*Manage overcrowding without hurting learning

Over the next few days I will post what I think is important for our GSCS board members to consider for our schools’ future. Please drop a comment or dm me with your views. I’d like to hear from you.
1. Protecting & Defining Catholic Identity
This is foundational and often where the hardest governance decisions happen.
*Ensuring schools remain authentically Catholic (faith formation, sacraments, prayer life)
*Strengthening ties between school, parish, and family
*Navigating modern inclusion questions while staying rooted in Church teaching
As your trustee, I would work to balance + + public
