Our dream was of creating a community that would build connections and understanding between the indigenous world and the world at large. Knowing that given the opportunity, all people working and understanding together, could change our world for the better. The International Indigenous Speakers Bureau-IISB opens the doors for talented, experienced and emerging speakers and knowledge-keepers, and
help them to share their gifts on a global stage. At the same time, IISB provides audiences, the opportunity to build bridges with Indigenous communities and garner the wealth of valuable indigenous knowledge, perspectives and solutions that may have been unaccessible until now. The International Indigenous Speakers Bureau works to shift mindsets to a more positive and powerful understanding of Indigenous people. At the same time we build bridges between global communities and help to bring together a world of unlimited possibilities. We turned to the United Nations for insight into the term “Indigenous”. The UN states that although the term is generic, in various countries there are many ways to describe the “indigenous” people of that place, including tribes, first peoples/nations, aboriginals, ethnic groups, adivasi, janajati.
