Sask Polytech has once again proven its mettle at this year’s Shell Eco-marathon World Championship Series. Competing against students from around the world, Sask Polytech tied at eighth place with its urban concept car, which achieved a result of 214 km/l.

This is the second time Sask Polytech has participated in the Shell Eco-marathon World Championship Series. Congrats to the team!

The Sask Polytech Eco Car team had an event filled day with a minor breakdown in the morning. During the morning practice run the sprocket off the gearbox came off. Luckily, it was a swift and straightforward repair. In the afternoon the team competed in the mileage competition securing fifth place with an impressive fuel consumption of 214 km/l. This positions the team in eighth place overall, considering the regional points. Tomorrow morning is the time trail, and the top eight teams will move on to the Drivers World Championship in the afternoon!

The Shell Eco-marathon is one of the world’s leading student engineering competitions where teams design, build and test-drive the world’s most energy-efficient vehicles. Sask Polytech is currently in India for the 2023 World Championship.

We are happy to share Sask Polytech’s eco car team successfully passed technical inspection yesterday! The team nearly aced all categories on the first try. Following the inspection, a few laps around the track revealed some issues arising from variations in elevation and gas type. We ended the day strategizing how to make improvements for tomorrow.

Meet Sask Polytech's eco car team!

Sask Polytech has been participating in Shell Eco-marathon since 2017, bringing together a wide range of student experts including technologists in design manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, computer systems, machinists, and automotive service technicians. Together, they design and build all aspects of their vehicles.

Meet the Sask Eco UC team, whose motto and approach to Shell Eco-marathon is based on preparation for hard work and a belief that what you put in you get out.

Happy Thanksgiving! Sask Polytech’s eco car team arrived in India this weekend for the Shell Eco-marathon World Championships 2023. We are excited to represent Sask Polytech, Saskatchewan and Canada at this international competition. Our urban concept car was previously shipped to Bangalore. It was exciting to open the crate and get working on the car. We checked over everything and should be ready for tech tomorrow! Wish us luck!
