Thanks to Shawn Moen and Cassy Appelt, who visited our facility last month to celebrate a new memorandum of understanding between GIFS Ag-Tech Enterprise — our non-profit business arm — and 9 Mile Legacy Brewing.

Through this agreement, we’ll explore opportunities to collaborate with the LGCY: Innovation Hub at 9 Mile Legacy.

We’re excited to team up with another forward-thinking Saskatchewan organization to accelerate the development of high-value ingredients, leveraging precision fermentation, cutting-edge strain engineering, and bioprocess optimization. 🧬⚙️

Saskatchewan is home to a vibrant innovation ecosystem and we’ll also explore opportunities to raise awareness of the capabilities and expertise within the province, including:

➡️ GIFS’ world-class engineering biology platform and biomanufacturing program; and

➡️ The LGCY Innovation Hub’s significant scale-up capabilities.

Dr. Andréa Willemin (PhD) has joined GIFS as the Platform Lead for our Omics and Precision Analytics Laboratory, a high-throughput sequencing and genotyping facility and a PacBio Certified Service Provider.

Andréa brings expertise in experimental design, automation, and data analysis. These skills will be instrumental as we expand our capabilities to support our partners and customers.

At GIFS, we leverage automated workflows and robust pipelines to deliver cutting-edge, end-to-end solutions for omics data acquisition and analysis.

As Platform Lead, Andréa will ️drive automation ⚙, streamline workflows 🔁, and help our partners get the most from their data. 📊

In the coming weeks and months, Andréa will be meeting with partners and key collaborators to discuss ongoing projects and opportunities to advance their research and product development.
