A Journey into Exile will enable participants to gain first-hand experience with the challenges and hopes of refugees seeking safety, security, and a better life in a new country. The exercise opens spaces to better understand refugees' lived experience, allowing non-refugees become more welcoming and better able to stand in solidarity with forced migrants.

This event is operated by the Jesuit Refugee Services and hosted by the Irene and Doug Schmeiser Centre for Faith, Reason, Peace, and Justice in partnership with St. Andrew's College and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon.

This event will be in-person only and limited spots are available.

"Stop and listen to those stories" said Tevfik Karatop in an interview with the Irene and Doug Schmeiser Centre. "There are 100 million different people with unique stories." As part of promoting A Journey into Exile, James Powell, one of the graduate student project administrators for the Irene and Doug Schmeiser Centre, interviewed Tevfik Karatop on the simulation exercise.

The revised simulation exercise incorporates 42 refugee stories where the participant makes decisions of journeying into exile, understanding why people leave their home country.
