Congratulations Dr Foulds!!
SK-NEIHR is proud to celebrate the incredible research leadership of Dr. Heather Foulds and Dr. Leah Ferguson, along with their collaborators, in advancing Métis-led health research!
Dr. Foulds and Dr. Ferguson, alongside Dr. Shannon Blanchet, Scott Duffee, Bruce Sinclair, and Eric McAllister, are part of “Métis are People Who Gather”, a theatre-based knowledge mobilization project supported by the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation. This initiative reflects the power of storytelling in sharing Métis health research.
Dr. Foulds is also a co-investigator on a CIHR-funded project led by Dr. Lucy Delgado and Dr. Laura Forsythe, alongside Dr. Michelle Driedger. This research will explore the impact of Métis-specific spaces on the health and wellness of Métis women and Two-Spirit/Indigiqueer people.
Congratulations to all involved in these important, community-driven initiatives!
Check out Foulds' Research Lab to keep connected with amazing work like this!

😃 It's time to meet Ward 2 2️⃣ trustee, Vernon J. Linklater...
Vernon identifies as an urban First Nations Anishinaabe man. His father is from Couchiching First Nation in northern Ontario. He belongs to the Thunderchild First Nation.
Vernon was instrumental in getting Bedford Road Collegiate to change its team name from Redmen to Redhawks. 👏 He was part of getting Orange Shirt Day recognized provincially along with the Saskatchewan School Board Association. 👏 Vernon is the only Indigenous urban trustee in Saskatchewan, and the longest elected official. 🤩
The people closest to Vernon call him V, Vernsy or Mushy (grandfather). ❤️ Vernon is a four-time amateur boxing champion. He won a bronze medal in 1990 at the World Cup of Boxing and is in the northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. 🥊
Vernon lives in the Westmount neighbourhood, where he can often be seen biking 🚲 or walking 🚶♀️ around and attending the local parks with his grandchildren.
