The USST is a student group at the University of Saskatchewan. We are an interdisciplinary/intercollege team which competes in international challenges.

Since forming in 2005, the USST has created a name for itself as a world leader in power-beaming technologies. That’s the result of participating four times in the Elevator: 2010 Competition, a NASA Centennial Challenge. It’s the result of wirelessly powering a robotic Space Elevator to three first place finishes, and setting several world records—including the most power wirelessly beamed, and fa

Some 👍 moments from the competition so far:
1. We passed the visual inspections
2. The judges did a pre-launch evaluation
3. We assembled our motor; due to the explosive nature of the motor it was shipped directly to Timmins for assembly. It will remain under the care of some Launch Canada experts until our rocket is put on the launch pad and is ready to launch.
4. After a master class with a resident expert, our main parachute is folded and ready for deployment!

The first two days of the Launch Canada competition are conference days. We have been enjoying sharing the details of our project, networking with other teams and experts, and attending the presentations. We have been “fueling up” on great ideas that we can apply to the next rocket!

Two of the RADSAT-SK project managers, Dustin Preece and Layne Ransom, attended the IEEE International Conference on Wireless for Space and Extreme Environments (WiSEE) in Winnipeg, MB. They gave a presentation on the abstract entitled “Lessons Learned thus far in the CCP RADSAT-SK CubeSat Design Project” with authors Layne Ransom, Dustin Preece, Arliss Sidloski, and Dr. Sean Maw. The conference was an incredible learning opportunity and many connections were made with other CubeSat teams!!

Some very exciting news for RADSAT-SK: the timer board has been completely tested and is fully functioning!! The entire team would like to thank for all the help they provided over the summer. We would not have a mission without Luc and his team, so their contributions mean so much to us. THANK YOU!!!
